ACA Marketplace Plans in Texas for 2027
Open Enrollment for 2027 Marketplace coverage starts November 1, 2026 and ends January 15, 2027. If you want coverage that can start January 1, the federal deadline is December 15. Start by comparing total cost, doctors, prescriptions, network rules, and enrollment timing—not just the monthly premium.

What an ACA Marketplace comparison should include
Marketplace metal categories—Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum—describe how costs are generally divided between you and the plan. They do not measure quality of care. A useful comparison looks beyond the metal label.
- Monthly premium: what you pay to keep the plan active.
- Deductible: what you may pay before the plan begins paying for certain covered services.
- Copays and coinsurance: what you may pay when you use covered care.
- Maximum out-of-pocket: the annual cap for covered in-network costs that count toward the limit.
- Network: whether your doctors, hospitals, urgent care, specialists, and facilities participate in the exact plan.
- Prescriptions: whether your medications are covered and what pharmacy rules apply.
- Expected use: known appointments, ongoing treatment, planned procedures, or family care needs.
Marketplace coverage is not the same as every private plan
Plans offered through HealthCare.gov are ACA-compliant major medical coverage. Coverage sold outside the Marketplace can follow different rules. Do not assume an outside product has the same pre-existing-condition protections, essential benefits, network structure, renewal terms, or out-of-pocket limits.

Can you enroll outside Open Enrollment?
You may qualify for a Special Enrollment Period after certain life events, such as losing qualifying coverage, getting married, having a baby, or moving in qualifying circumstances. Medicaid and CHIP applications are available year-round for people who qualify.
